Time Wasters; the major impediments to achieving your dreams and goals

Time wasters

Time wasters could be defined as equipment, gadgets, or a set of activities that are frequently done or used by people for prolong period of time, thereby, limiting them from achieving their major goals and priorities.

In this our time, a lot of inventions have been made, the invention of Mobile phones, Iphones, Laptops, Televisions, and other gadgets are undermining people from achieving and bringing their visions to life. Now let’s look into this time wasters properly.

1.     Mobile phones: It’s no news; mobile phones are one of the frequently used everyday gadgets used by both the young and old. It is one of the main time wasters we have in our time. Youths especially get addicted and bound to this gadget. They play games, watch videos, jokes and spend most of their time on Social Media. Instead of them working on themselves and visions just as those entertaining them have done and are earning a living so that they also can entertain, become celebrities, idols and also earn a living. There are useful applications one could download on these Mobile phones that could help to enhance one’s vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, Essay, Letter writing, Summary Writing and even learn a new language like Greek and Latin. There are so many uplifting kinds of stuff one could use the Mobile phone to do. This will far more help one in His/her career, but also help you utilize the good that is in mobile phones. You can also use your Mobile phones as dictionaries. So in essence utilize this gadget for the good of your time.

2.   Television: This gadget was invented many years ago, first with the display color of black and white, before it was remodeled to display in the ROYGBIV colors. This gadget has been a major form of entertainment and relaxation for centuries. But, it is quite disheartening to learn that some, or rather many have become stuck or addicted to this gadget. Most people stare t the television from morning till night. Some don’t even remember to eat a healthy diet or healthy food, all because they are watching the television. My grandfather once said “It is foolish to be stuck watching the television from morning till night without doing anything meaningful in a day that would profit you in a way. One would spend time watching those who have gone far to prepare themselves, read a lot of scripts to offer something and is being paid for his work and you just sit down and do nothing about yourself, but watch.” So time yourself on when to watch the television, organize your day, and make sure you’re fruitful. Take a walkout, take a shower, eat something healthy, and move forward to achieve some daily goals.

3.      Day-dreaming: This is mostly done by all humans. Naturally, it is normal to imagine you being this or that, having this or that, how it is going to look. Yeah, it’s natural, but don’t get stuck in there. Come out of that comfort zone, work it out, so that you can be it and show it out. Endeavor to be an inspiration and not wallow in the depression of day-dreaming what will not be, without work. So build yourself daily. Move-out, prioritize, and achieve it.

4.      Hanging out with friends even when it’s not necessary at the wrong time: It is a normal thing to go out with friends at times, we use such moments to relax, take a walkout, crack jokes, and so on. But as you know, there is time for everything. You can’t necessarily hang out with your friends when you know your schedule is being tightened up. You don’t need to be spontaneous in life, in the sense that when your friend comes across in the middle of you working, then makes you leave everything you're doing for a walk. Rather be disciplined and have an appropriate timing for everything. When you know you’re seriously busy when your friend comes over to take you out, tell him/her that you busy and you will catch up with him/her in an hour or two, whenever you know you would be done. This will help a lot.

5.    Trying to do everything at the same time: now I want you to take note of this; there’s a difference between being busy and being effective. You can’t just try to work on so many things at the same time, it’s just not possible. A lot of people, students, in particular, claim to be reading two different subjects between 10 minutes interval. For example, A student might claim to be reading or to read Biology in 10 minutes (a small part), then use another 10 minutes for a small part in Chemistry. You see, this is totally absurd and the student won’t be effective.

4 Ways to Hack Your Brain Chemicals to Become More Productive

You might not have a money  tree, but you can have the next best thing: a happiness tree. Happy people are more motivated, effective, and productive. Dopamine, Serotonin, Oxytocin, and Endorphins are the hormones responsible for your happiness. Many situations can trigger these neurotransmitters, but instead of being in the passenger seat, there are ways you can intentionally cause them to flow: 1. Dopamine. Dopamine motivates you to take action toward your goals and gives you the momentum of reinforcing pleasure when achieving them. Procrastination, self-doubt, and lack of enthusiasm are linked with low levels of dopamine.  Break big goals down into little pieces. Rather than only allowing your brain to celebrate when you’ve hit the big finish line, you can create a series of little finish lines for frequent dopamine release. And it’s crucial to actually celebrate -- buy a bottle of wine, or head to your favorite restaurant whenever yo...
